What is Hair Transplantation?

Hair Transplant

Hair transplantation is the process of transferring follicular units with strong hair follicles from the donor area to the area where the hair is absent or sparse.

How to do hair transplantation?

During the procedure, the boundaries of the donor area and the area to be transplanted are determined first. Then, it performs the shaving process so that the transplant can be done easily. In some cases, the operation is performed unshaven according to the patient’s request and the technique suitable for the patient. Hair transplantation stages consist of 4 main stages as anesthesia application, collection of grafts, opening of channels and placement of grafts in channels.

Operation Stages

Application of Anesthesia

In order for the hair transplant operation to be comfortable and painless, the spraying method is applied with a painless anesthesia device called Dermojet, and the donor area from which the follicular units will be taken is matched. Then, anesthesia application is completed with local anesthesia in order to increase the effect of painless anesthesia and to ensure that it lasts longer.

Collection of Follicular Units (Grafts)

First of all, grafts are collected one by one with the help of micro motor, from the donor area where the hair follicles (FU) of the person will be taken, to meet the need. In order for the collected follicular units (FU) to remain alive during the operation, these grafts are kept in a special solution until the placement phase is completed.

Grooving Phase

Channel opening is the most important step in hair transplantation that affects naturalness. After the collection of follicular units, the length and diameter of the relevant hair follicles are evaluated, and micro channels are opened, where the grafts will be transplanted in harmony, taking into account the natural growth directions of the hair.

Placement of Follicular Units (Grafts)

Grafts are placed one by one according to the directions of the channels opened in the area of need determined after the analysis. This stage of hair transplant takes about 3-4 hours.

Operation Methods

In hair, beard, mustache and eyebrow transplantation, different methods are used in the collection and placement of grafts. These methods are applications that are carried out in the light of technological developments and differ according to the size of the area to be transplanted and the hair root structure of the person.
